Quality Engineer
Salary range: $120,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year
What you’ll do:
- Develop project specific Quality Inspection & Test Plans, Inspection Templates, and Inspection protocols - including defining project specific tolerances and creating detailed checklists for various stages of project construction.
- Manage the quality control and assurance aspects of small projects, overseeing all quality-related activities from planning through execution and completion.
- Collaborate with project teams to aid in the integration of quality management principles into project planning, design, and execution phases.
- Occasionally conduct audits on construction processes and quality control measures to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with established standards.
- Maintain a system for tracking, reporting, and resolving quality issues, non-conformities, and corrective actions in a timely manner to responsible parties.
- Provide technical guidance and training to project staff on quality standards, best practices, and quality improvement tools and techniques.
- Analyze data from quality inspections and audits to identify trends, areas for improvement, and the effectiveness of quality interventions.
- Occasionally conduct technical reviews of solar construction projects to ensure alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
- Assist in development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality management systems, processes, and outcomes across projects.
- Ensure all quality documentation is properly maintained, accessible, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Occasionally perform site reviews and field audits where necessary to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Maintain and develop Procore quality documentation.
- Work alongside compliance team to build our QMS and company wide quality platform.
What you’ll bring:
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or technical training in construction, engineering, or quality control is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field specialized in renewable energy systems is preferred but not required.
- Certification in Quality Management or Quality Engineering (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) is highly desirable.
- Experience
- 6+ years of experience in construction quality assurance/quality control, with a strong focus on large-scale utility solar projects.
- Strong understanding of solar energy systems, including design, construction, and operation principles.
- Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in quality control methodologies, standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and quality management systems applicable to construction projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to solar construction, such as NEC, IEEE, and relevant UL standards (e.g., UL 4703 for Photovoltaic Wire).
- Competence in using project management and quality management software tools (e.g. Procore)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex information and make data-driven decisions.
- Commitment to staying informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and quality management practices in solar construction and renewable energy projects.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven expertise in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and communicating quality principles and standards.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and the ability to enforce high-quality standards.
- Ability to lead and train teams on quality best practices and continuous improvement processes.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive drug screening and background check.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Must have a good driving record and maintain a valid Driver’s License

- Work hours may vary based on the needs of the construction activity.
